What Are 0850 SMS and Calls (Turkey)? How to Block Them
Numbers starting with 0850 are landline-style service numbers that organisations in Turkey often use for customer contact. Banks, carriers and couriers can use them, and advertisers and spammers can use the same range too. So not every 0850 message is spam, but a large share of them are advertising.
Is an 0850 message trustworthy?
Judging by the number alone is not enough. Look at:
- Is it from a brand you know, about something you were expecting?
- Does it contain a link or ask for personal information?
- Is the sender a registered name or just a random number?
Bulk blocking with a wildcard rule
To block all 0850 numbers with one rule, use the +90850* pattern. In HiSMS the star (*) wildcard covers the rest of the number, and +90850* and 0850* catch the same range.
Protect the 0850 numbers you trust
You don’t want to miss 0850 messages from your bank or courier. So before blocking in bulk, add the senders you trust to the allow list. The allow list always takes priority over block rules.
Manage your commercial-message consent
You can see which brands you have allowed for commercial electronic messages, and withdraw consent, through the message management system (İYS).
For calls
If 0850 calls bother you as well as texts, use your phone’s call-blocking feature or your carrier’s services. HiSMS only filters SMS.
